Pacific Family Business Institute has hosted Family Business Affinity groups since 2010. The Family Business Leadership Network provides a valuable opportunity for family business leaders to connect and collaborate in a supportive, interactive, and confidential environment. This affinity group is designed to facilitate meaningful discussions and share insights, helping members navigate the unique challenges of family business dynamics.

Purpose

Our network is dedicated to creating a community of non-competing family business professionals focused on developing leadership skills and understanding the complexities of family businesses. Balancing family needs with business objectives can be challenging, and our group is here to support you through that journey.

Why The Family Business Leadership Network?

What sets the PFBI Family Business Leadership Network apart from other affinity groups?

  • We focus exclusively on family businesses and the personal and professional challenges that arise from intergenerational family dynamics in the workplace.

  • Our experienced facilitators bring a wealth of knowledge in consulting, education, and research with family businesses, offering best practices for conflict resolution, succession planning, governance, and more. Practical experience tailored to the unique needs of real family businesses.

  • Members can choose from flexible engagement options, including in-person, online, and hybrid formats, ensuring participation that suits individual preferences.

Commitment

Members meet regularly throughout the year to explore a variety of relevant topics, such as the business lifecycle, generational dynamics, leadership, conflict resolution, and succession planning. Each meeting features experiential learning, personal assessment opportunities, and ongoing coaching and mentoring. PFBI facilitators also conduct regular check-ins and executive coaching sessions between group meetings to provide additional support and guidance. Guest speakers and professional facilitators enrich discussions, and members are invited to attend social gatherings to build connections within the community.

Membership

Membership is open to anyone involved in family businesses, including current managers, future successors, owners, or shareholders. We welcome diverse perspectives and experiences, ensuring everyone can contribute to and benefit from the network. Our selective application process fosters an environment of confidentiality and support.
